Class Warnings

GLP-1 receptor agonists may increase the risk of thyroid C-cell tumors. Patients with a personal or family history of medullary thyroid carcinoma (MTC) or Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia syndrome type 2 (MEN 2) should not use these medications.

Risk of pancreatitis has been reported with GLP-1 agonists. Discontinue use if pancreatitis is suspected.

Gastrointestinal effects such as nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and delayed gastric emptying are common. Use with caution in patients with gastrointestinal disorders.

Risk of hypoglycemia increases when used with insulin or sulfonylureas. Monitor closely.

Not recommended for use during pregnancy or breastfeeding.

These medications are not approved for pediatric patients under 18 years of age.
